She's Got A Tapedeck in Her Tractor

The plan was to spend a week around a swimming pool in Palm Springs for the Fourth of July Week but when the weather predictions started calling for 120-degree temperatures, we changed our minds fast and stayed in town.

At the Lone Star Saloon on Saturday afternoon, the weekly $9 beer bust had been commandeered by a gay rodeo association trying to raise funds with auctions of weird items such as a monster Scooby-Doo plush toy that was literally falling apart.

The crowd was also subjected to a couple of handsome young men in cowboy drag pretending they were country-western singers...

...and a drag queen lipsyncing to Lorretta Lynn...

...though she looked more like Ronee Blakley in Altman's masterpiece, "Nashville," after Barbara Jean goes insane.

You have a great blog which I enjoy reading but this drag queen -- straight out of the House of Wax, circa 1965?? staring Vincent Price.

nancy (not really anonymous but don't have a blogger type account).

Dear nancy: She scared me too, along with most of the usual crowd who are there to drink beer, listen to rock music, and have conversation.

Thank you for the heart warming comments. I'm always happy when I can scare the crap out of an audience member(s) :)
