Crockett's Sidewalk Art
The Hayes Valley still has parking lots dotted throughout the neighborhood that are holdovers from the double-decker freeway that blighted the area for over thirty years, and because nothing gets built quickly in San Francisco, the areas in front of them have become favorite spots for hit-and-run garage sales.
My favorite of the artists who occasionally swoop down for a bit of sidewalk art selling is Crockett Bodelson...
...whose tiny paintings range in price from $5 to $20.
He puts out his wares anywhere from one to three times a week, "depending on how long it takes to raise enough money for my rent."
Click here to get to his website gallery, and if you happen to walk on Hayes Street between Gough and Octavia, you might consider buying one of the small paintings, which are whimsical and wonderful.
