Bay to Breakers 1: Hayes Street

The annual San Francisco Bay to Breakers footrace took place Sunday morning...

...and we went to watch the crowd go by at the corner of Franklin and Hayes Streets.

The weather could not have been more exquisitely beautiful...

...and most people seemed to be having a marvelous time.

There was great controversy over last year's edition because of out-of-control public drunks breaking glass on the streets and pissing on people's homes...

...and the new corporate sponsor ING announced that there would be zero tolerance for public drinking and nudity this year.

A compromise was reached with protestors, and public drinking was abundant and tolerated, though thankfully I saw very few glass bottles this year, which was nice, and a large increase in porta-potties seemed to take care of most of the public pissers.

The economy and its attendant pink slips were a major theme this year...

...which is probably why there seemed to be so many men running around in their girlfriends' pink slips.

As for the rest of this account, some of the photos in the following posts are probably not safe for your workplace. Be advised.

Great sets -- especially like the first one in Set #1 of the red and green men...

And you're right about perhaps way too many nude old fat men -- right at that point where shock becomes outch...
