News Flash: 5 Fulton Muni Line Gets It Together for HSB

For the first time in living memory, Muni has figured out how to get thousands of people to a Golden Gate Park music festival on the 5 Fulton bus line. In addition to added regular buses that started on Friday, Muni has also added a whole fleet of Golden Gate Park Limited vehicles, and they've been full but not packed like a tin of sardines.

Of course, this may only be a cruel trick on Muni's part. The return service downtown from the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival may be an underfleeted horror, but for the moment let's count our civic blessings. I'm also going to take full credit for the improved service.

Update: Sunday doesn't look quite so successful, possibly because every other white person in the Bay Area seems to be attending the festival today.

I'm glad the kids got out to the concert on time this year! My experience with MUNI today was, unfortunately, not as fortunate - 20 minute delay at Duboce inbound on the J at 2PM, and an equally long delay outbound at Van Ness station at 4PM, watching an outbound N sitting, doors open and motionless, at the platform, while a forlorn J marked time behind it...

Dear sfphoneguy: The way to ensure Muni Madness is having to depend on a single line to get you somewhere. There are people in mental health lockup who are still waiting for a 33 Ashbury.

I think they are practicing for the Van Ness BRT!
