Castro Street Fair 2013
The annual Castro Street Fair used to be a claustrophobic nightmare that seemed to grow larger and more crowded with each passing year.
Recent editions, however, have somehow reversed that trend and the fair has become a charming neighborhood get-together with a few tourists like the Guadalajara quartet above.
It could be that the Folsom Street Fair held a week earlier has inherited the hordes. It also probably helps that the Castro Fair overlaps with the final day of the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival with its mobs of Bay Area daytrippers diverted to Golden Gate Park.
The place felt relaxed, filled with old friends bumping into each other and either celebrating or bemoaning the state of the world.
