The San Francisco Ballet's New Works Festival
New signage was being hung on the facade of the Opera House this week in anticipation of the "New Works Festival" that is being performed by the San Francisco Ballet from Tuesday, April the 22nd through Tuesday, May 6th.
The festival is in honor of the company's 75th anniversary, and I can't think of a more wonderful way to celebrate the occasion that commissioning new work from ten of the greatest choreographers in the world. They are a nice mix of the local, national and international as following: Julia Adam, Val Caniparoli, Jorma Elo, Margaret Jenkins, James Kudelka, Mark Morris, Yuri Posskhov, Paul Taylor, Stanton Welch and Christopher Wheeldon.
This is probably costing a small fortune so wealthy benefactors are probably being "developed" for huge sums, in exchange for which there will be yet another tent party in the parking lot between the Opera House and the Veterans Building. It should be a good time.

I can't wait!! :) I hope the festival lives up to its hype.
It was great to see you at the opening last night! I had a good time with lots of intelligent talks with people who are interested in art -- and not just the food table! We will have to have that lunch and discuss politics and cameras and other things that interest both of us.
