On Sunday afternoon, there was a crashing sound outside our apartment at McAllister and Franklin Streets in front of the San Francisco Unified School District headquarters.
It seems that Muni streetcar drivers are not the only serious menaces on local roads and rails.
A thin young man who looked like he hadn't been getting enough sleep somehow managed to sideswipe the parked car above and then plow into the parked van below, knocking it onto the sidewalk.
That noise, when you are sitting peacefully in your home, and realize there has been an accident outside, is so horrifying. Thank goodness the cars he hit were parked. I remember being awakened by a crash noise at 3 in the morning, and running out into the street to find a man bleeding on the street, victim of a hit and run, who was most concerned about the dog that had been riding in the car. We called the ambulance, and I think he was OK, but to this day I wonder what happened to him.

Dear Mike, Are you sure the driver of the car wasn't an off-duty streetcar driver?
I mean...:)
Dear Willie: No, I'm not, though he did look like a skinny young white meth head in a fancy car.
Dear momo: On our particular intersection, unfortunately, it's a fairly common occurrence.
