Gaylandia 2: Sunday Mob

Meandering to the Civic Center at about 3PM on Sunday...

...we ran into a huge crowd from the Gay Pride march.

What struck me as most interesting was that the congregants were more racially mixed than in the old days of the parade...

...and in many cases, they weren't even gay or lesbian, but family groups out for a cheap, fun time.

It was confusing enough that there was no way to know if the young women above, for instance, were fag hags, lesbians or just plain girls who wanted to have fun.

We didn't stay long on account of claustrophobia, but did pause to admire a few costumes...

...fallen fairies...

...and a drag queen with a rock band wailing away onstage.

Good photojournalism, Mike. Excellent choice of the leadoff photo. Nice snake.
