Spain vs. the Netherlands in Civic Center Plaza

The World Cup finals were broadcast live in Civic Center Plaza on Sunday and thousands of people showed up...

...some of them in outlandish outfits...

...carrying national flags.

San Francisco's Rec & Park Department even got their act together and made sure there were food vendors along with Heineken and sangria for sale.

After outlasting an exceptionally brutal Dutch team, the Spanish won in overtime and some of the crowd went crazy with happiness.

The entire event was charming.

Do San Franciscans ever overlook an excuse to dress outlandishly?

Dear Kit:

I would say no. Overlooking an excuse for dressing up in costume in San Francisco would somehow feel sinful.
