100 Van Ness Facelift

The completely gutted office skyscraper at the corner of Fell and Van Ness is acquiring a new glass exterior as part of its transformation into luxury housing rentals.

From a distance, it looked like gold squares at various corners were part of some tacky design concept, but on closer inspection they are sheets of plywood which are placeholders for something else.

The green glass exterior seems to be taking its visual cue from the squat former California AAA headquarters building next door on Van Ness. I wonder how the glass will hold up in our next big earthquake, and hope not to be anywhere near it when that eventuality occurs.

Short term thinking.Huge profits to be made. Wonder what will happen when the bubble bursts.
