The Unbearable Perkiness of WaMu

This weekend we received a piece of junk mail introducing us to the "My WaMu Perks program for FREE."

The fact that the sixth-largest bank in the United States had just been seized last Thursday as insolvent by the United States government and handed over to JP Morgan Chase Etc. lent the missive a surreal, absurdist touch.

Arriving in the same day's mail was an offer from the criminally mismanaged insurance behemoth AIG offering me a FREE $10 Gas Card which is amusing since I don't drive and wouldn't go anywhere near that toxic corporation for any purpose whatsoever.

As the Bush administration demands even more money from the peasants to ensure the continued wealth of the plutocracy (see the invasion of Iraq/Afghanistan/Pakistan/Iran, reduced estate taxes, investment bank/home mortgage companies/insurance company bailouts), it's looking more likely with each passing day that most of us are going to be subsisting on cat food soon. See you on the soup lines.

that junk mail blitz is hilarious.

I took my money out of WaMu just to be safe...I trust the current administration so little, it can't be measured by science.

it really is amazing how Bush presided over the total decline of our country...I hope things turnaround..otherwise I'll be running a restaurant in an "Americatown" somewhere overseas...

Wamu is going under quickly, are they crazy?

Don't worry babe -- when elected, I'll take care of it all.

I didn't know you had a kitty at home now! No cat food for me. I'll be eating fabulous food from the Gill Tract. Vegetables, fruit. We'll have animals too.

Lots of crazy up down challenge, with this election campaign. Some wish to paint me as anti-child, anti-American, and anti-God. Me!

Crazy. After this episode in the hell realms of politics, I might have toughened myself enough to wade more deeply into the realm of art. Way more political than politics. Almost as ferocious as the politics of the yoga world!

Big kisses,

E

I think that Wa-MU is crazy, certifiable in fact. I got an "invite" from them as well but it's already gone into the shredder with some choice words. I find it ironic than in a time when we are told that credit is tighter than ..well you fill in the blank... they offered to up my credit limit to $20,000! And I'm retired! No visible means of support. Over 60 even!

Unbelievable that they supposedly didn't know they were failing....

This bailout is garbage.

Okay I want to know what the marketing demographic was...I got both those offers.

Dear Jan: That's because we're both "special."

hey, the real important question: is that Tina's successor?

Write to your senator, congressman, let them know you dont want all this bailout and buying from the government. That's the real reason the bailout bill died in the House on Monday. Check out my blog if you want more info: neogearx.blogspot.com

I did let my Congressman know I didn't want the bailout. That didn't stop him from voting for it.... Self-interest is always stronger than the interests of your constituency....

I'm leaving my thoughts on the whole "financial meltdown". It's a self-inflicted wound, and I find it amazing that supposedly intelligent folks say they never saw this coming. It's been coming for years; it's easy to be blind, though, when you think you're going to get rich!
