Sisters of Operatic Indulgence
Korngold's opera "Die Tote Stadt" opened at the San Francisco Opera on Tuesday evening...
...and according to my friend Patrick Vaz (click here for his blog), it's probably going to be the highlight of the season.
I make a brief cameo as a scary Dead City Bishop in the last act, along with about 40 other men and women...
...some of whom also appear in Act Two as White Nuns following a huge cross across the stage on which soprano Katherine Tier is mounted, singing about her desire to join a convent.
Though most of the audience can't see that half the nuns are actually men, backstage it feels a bit like one has wandered into the Castro Street Fair.

I'd have to agree with Patrick on this one, it's certainly the best production so far. Though, of course, I'll go to Boccanegra again, on your advice.
I love you blogs! Very funny. I hope blogger keeps it at the top of their list.

Dear rachete, newtone, and mike fan. I didn't even know there was such a thing as a "Blog of Note," but now that I've won Best Picture, so to speak, I couldn't be more amused. Welcome and I hope you enjoy yourselves.

Who knew that the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence would wander into an opera by Korngold? Love the make up darling but the hats..well..I found another recording of the Die Tote Stradt aria by Joseph Schmidt (1933 - from Premiere Opera Podcasts). I'll burn a CD for you and give it to you the next time we meet.
Ha, I knew that, if I kept reading your blog, I would find out that we have at least one friend in common. That's my old friend, Wolfgang, in the last picture.
Let's see. I found Princess Sparkle Pony by clicking the "Next Blog" tab at Blogspot. I found you from Princess Sparkle Pony and now I find myself looking at a ghastly looking Wolfgang from you.
I like operas, but these pictures seem to be unusual for the topic. Those red eyes are frightening (which is not a problem - I'm fond of odd things, too).
Let the record show I was here before all the new people showed up.
I know I should hear some highbrow music in my head looking at these pictures, but instead there's a tune from the 1930's titled "You're Getting to be a Habit with Me".
Congrats on the Blog of Note nod. No one deserves it more.
Wait wait wait, there's a Princess Sparkle Pony blog? Now that's something I need to see...
Love Carlos as Nun with 'Stache. And you've been *discovered*! :-)
We already knew you were "Of Note"

Very interesting and I'm confused a little bit, because ı reached to your page via www.bizimsite.blogspot.com as your post was also totally published in that site. I think it is a plagiarism.
Sorry for disturbing, but I think it is important.
Best regards.
Dear ankara: Thanks for the heads up. That's very weird. I'll get my techie genius friend Kimo Crossman on it right away.
Those guys almost looked like ghosts to me!! No offense intended!!
