What a wonderfull site!! I live in the Reno area and am amazed at the content of your blog and the closeness of such art that lives just a mountain top away. I have been to San Francisco many times, but you have shown me a side I so wish to visit now!!! I don't recall much of his performance from dr Atomic, I have to say.Cedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02611663819436917513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11380345.post-63294186039344437232008-02-03T10:53:00.000-08:002008-02-03T10:53:00.000-08:00Dear ced and Opera Plaza: I took out the Bostridge...Dear ced and Opera Plaza: I took out the Bostridge reference because I realized I didn't know what I was talking about, never having heard him live, and also realized I didn't have a clue who and what he kissed in his spare time. The emotional intensity of the Rosetti set actually gave me goose bumps. What I found disappointing was how small the crowd was for this gifted young singer who is quickly becoming a regular at some major opera houses. I realized his talent when I heard him sing "Miles! Miles!" from Britten's "Turn of the Screw" at an Adler Fellows recital. It was unquestionably the best performance of it that I'd ever heard (and I'm a bit of a Britten fanatic). If you want to hear it for yourself, he's about to perform it with the Sacramento Opera. He's also singing the Shostakovich "Songs from Jewish Poetry" with the Berkeley Symphony. This is a major talent and we should be fortunate that we heard him here first.Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03486191899983295644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11380345.post-19804289233577346722008-02-03T09:43:00.000-08:002008-02-03T09:43:00.000-08:00Opera plaza beat me to it: it's not too hard to th...Opera plaza beat me to it: it's not too hard to think of an hetero Bostridge...

Thanks for posting about that series, though, I would have never heard of it otherwise!Cedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02611663819436917513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11380345.post-24258676432852503332008-02-03T00:39:00.000-08:002008-02-03T00:39:00.000-08:00"think of a cute hetero Ian Bostridge"umm i imagin..."think of a cute hetero Ian Bostridge"umm i imagine Mrs B and the little Bostridges do regularly...opera plazahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10756703782287156492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11380345.post-37816186104503008522008-02-02T23:31:00.000-08:002008-02-02T23:31:00.000-08:00I'm sorry to have missed this concert. (Full disclosure: I accompanied him in an informal house concert a couple of years ago when he was a Merolino.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
