On a cold, windswept Saturday morning in Civic Center Plaza, college graduates were scurrying about on their way to Bill Graham Auditorium for a commencement ceremony.
I asked one of them if they were graduating from the Academy of Art, which seemed to offend them...
There were parents and grandparents in a long queue waiting along the plaza to be allowed into the auditorium, which was being protected by San Francisco policemen for some reason. The scene felt very old San Francisco.
