Fire Island was much like New York City, in which there are a number of essentially segregated "neighborhoods," with the western end being rather working class, the middle being fairly well-to-do and straight, and the east end being "gay" -- interesting to hear that maybe that's changing.<BR/><BR/>Best bit about Fire Island? There's a school bus for the kids, and it picks them up along the beach, since that's the only real road.
