SFJAZZ In The Groove 1: South

Last Monday there was a press preview at South, the new Charles Phan bar/restaurant at the SFJAZZ Center, specializing in fancy cocktails and Southern appetizers.

There are some lovely photos from the event at the newish hayeswire blog (click here).

We didn't stay long because we felt a bit out of place, so I gave my partner a tour of the new SFJAZZ Center, which seems to be settling into a nice groove in its new home.

From the second floor, we saw the crumbling SF Unified School District building across the street with its newly photo bombed jazz stars glowing in the waning light.

The Miner auditorium was lit with warmth and looked a bit magical.

On exiting to Franklin Street, we passed the see-through Joe Henderson Lab which was being set up for a High School All-Stars Practice. This place feels very happening.
