Besides Lt. Dangle, this year featured a slew of wonderful parodies of the recent Royal Wedding...

...with women running in some fabulously nutty dresses...

...and men in semi-formal wear...

...while being waved at by Queen Elizabeth from a new condo at the corner of Hayes and Franklin...

...and being accompanied by Tom Sweeney, the doorman from the Sir Francis Drake hotel, who is a species of local royalty.

Another favorite theme was the Black Swan...

...who arrived in all genders.

Indeed, tutus seemed to be the preferred fallback costumes for male-female couples...

...in all their variations...

...making one think that just about every girl wants to see her boyfriend in a tutu for some reason.

I thought about trotting over to photograph the circus, but decided I wasn't conversant enough with my culture to appreciate most of it.
You've convinced me I was right. :-)
Dear Jan: It was a two block plop over to Hayes Street from my bedroom, so I figured I should check it out, though I wished I'd worn some wool instead of cotton layers because I literally froze my ass off. Kudos to all the scantily clad characters who ignored the temperature, but then again, they were running and I was not.
I love the phrase "wasn't conversant enough with my culture," but you strike me as a very quick study, you would have figured it out immediately.
The royal wedding parodies are a great idea. & where did that Queen Elizabeth impersonator come from?
Dear Axel: I think she lives in the new condo and just happened to have a Queen Elizabeth mask around the house.
