2011 Bay to Breakers 1: Lt. Dangle Cracks Down

The 100th anniversary of the Bay to Breakers footrace was held in San Francisco on Sunday in the midst of threats that public drinking and bad behavior would not be tolerated this year.

Floats of any sort were also banned as they were seen as the source of much of the race-long boozing.

This didn't seem to stop the running and drinking phenomenon...

...as people were more discreet...

...mixing their alcohol with vitamin waters...

...or stepping to the sidewalk for a semi-civilized break.

Adding to the absurdity were the many runners who were dressed as Lt. Dangle from the TV show "Reno 911"...

...who seemed to be drinking on the job.

I might have ridden a bus later in the day with some of those Braveheart guys! But then there were probably lots of guys in blue paint, pelts & skirts in the race...

Dear Axel: They were the only ones I saw, and I watched most of the "parade," so they were probably the same dudes.
