KGUN On Your Side

One of the many grotesque ironies of the assassination attempt of Democratic Congresswoman at a Safeway in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday morning was literally stenciled on the screen.

It seems that the feed was from the ABC affiliate in Tucson whose call letters are KGUN "On Your Side." I suppose this is just a metaphor, rather like Sarah Palin's map with bullseyes targeting various Democratic congresspersons in the last election.

I'm surprised that we haven't had more political violence, given some American's love affair with both the gun and irresponsible political hateful rhetoric.

i didn't know whether to cry or laugh when i saw the call letters for the first time on CNN. maybe they picked KGUN because KNRA was taken? another senseless gun rampage leaves six persons dead and we have so few in congress willing to stand up to the NRA. today, america again paid a price for congressional allegiance to NRA leaders. shame.

When there are metaphors in the Bible, they consider it blasphemy to consider them non-literal.

When a person takes their metaphors literally, it's just a metaphor.

This is one of those times when I wish damning people to hell actually worked.

My grandmother used to vacation in Tucson in the 50's, and my parents have lived there for almost 40 years. When I was a kid, and Tucson was just a dusty place with a Western movie set somewhere outside the city limits, the call letters only evoked the old West to me. Just as sports teams with derogatory Native American mascots should change their names, I think it's time for KGUN to change their call letters.
