Making It Work at The Asian

The monthly MATCHA party on Thursday evenings at the Asian Art Museum...

...featured a fashion show by Jane Zhu (not pictured above, that's a partygoer) of her modern versions of the qipao...

...the form-fitting silk dress that emerged originally in 1920s Shanghai.

According to the website of Jane Zhu (pictured above):
"Jane is a fashion designer, born in Shanghai and uprooted to Palo Alto, Cambridge, New York, Paris, Singapore and finally back to Shanghai again. She first tried on her mother’s wedding qipao at the age of seven, and has been in love with dresses ever since."

There was a last-minute scramble for volunteer models for the event, so various employees of the museum, including Assistant Curator Dany Chan above, were recruited for the runway show and they looked stunning.

Everyone should get to wear clothes like these once in a while at work, simply to improve morale.
