Heat

The temperature in Palm Springs has been edging up each day this week closer to 120 degrees.

On Monday evening, a transformer exploded because of the heat, knocking out power to the neighborhood for an hour before Southern California Edison workers managed to fix it.

By Thursday, humidity was added to the mix.

When "The Desert Sun" newspaper announced that the weekend was slated to be even warmer, we decided to retreat to San Francisco.

I was wondering when you were going to regain your senses and return to the frigid fog...

That fog has been hanging onto the GG Bridge all week, but about 85 each day here in Marin... Monday and Tuesday it almost got up to 100. 120 is unimaginable -- oh yeah, as you mentioned, it's a "dry" heat... LOL

Forgot to mention that the first and last photos are really exceptional!

Dear Donald: I actually enjoyed baking in the heat, but only up to about 110. After that, it really starts to wear on you in all kinds of ways. And thanks for the photo praise.

fantastic photos
120 too much for me, it was 107 last time i went to austin(pus 65% humidity and was already a bit much), i just think that humans weren't meant to live around those parts :)

It was gorgeous on the back patio for about an hour after you guys left yesterday. But then the sun disappeared behind that new three-story condo building and San Francisco summer descended...
