Afghanistan Is The Bomb

The Asian Art Museum hosts a monthly party with the acronym of MATCHA on Thursday evenings (click here for more info).

There is a no-host bar tucked among the treasures...

...and various performances by groups that have something to do with current exhibitions, in this case the "Afghanistan" show.

The events are marketed to young people with a low $5 entry fee and the place was pleasantly packed last Thursday.

You could try out your arts and crafts abilities on the ground floor light court...

...which was next to a food sampling area...

...offering various Afghan delicacies...

...and a ridiculously long line of hungry people.

It seems odd to host a "Treasures of Afghanistan" exhibit while our country is currently murdering people throughout that troubled country. I don't see how bombing a wedding party is going to help in the "fight against terror" or win over any hearts and minds, and pray that our imperial war machine just gets the hell out of there. With President-Elect Obama's first major appointment being the Israeli-born, historically war-mongering Rahm Emmanuel as his Chief of Staff, I also don't foresee anything changing soon. Let's hope I'm wrong.
